The Greatest DSLR Camera

Camera Review of the Nicanon 997 aka Canikon 997

This is an independent review of the just released greatest DSLR camera of all time as of today, the new Nicanon 997 also known as the Canikon 997

After decades of bitter battles and jostling to the number one spot for the DSLR market, the two leading consumer camera makers have joined forces to converge their technology and marketing dominance into the ONE camera that would lead them all: The new Nicanon 997 also known as the new Canikon 997.

The Canikon version of the 997

In Your Hands

The 997 feels mighty good and joyful to touch with both hands or with just the one hand. It's looks exactly the same as the previous superseded and obsolete model, the 996, but the presence of the 997 logo where the 996 logo used to be exudes power and sets this baby apart from those lowly 996 owners who have not yet achieved the ownership status  of the new 997. You can tell this is a new camera by the distinctive smell of fresh rubber and plastic veneer over alloy metals. It just isn't comparable to your 18 month old camera that emits salivary and nostril mucus smells from its aging LCD screen and snot infested booger buttons.

Shooting With The 997

Out on the field or in the studio, the 997 tops all DSLR in just about all performances. The fact that there are so many buttons (on the side of the body) and so many options , settings, parameters, adjustments, enhancements, hidden menus, etc. that one has so little chance of getting the shot right is great testimony as to how a camera would be so crammed and loaded with all available modern technology.

The 997 Body

The one thing that sets the 997 apart from all other cameras is the LCD screen at the back of the camera. In fact, the whole back IS the LCD screen! For those who are not familiar with touch screen technology, the option of several tech depraved noob buttons have been relegated to the sides, top, and bottom.

Taking The Picture

The 997 will certainly separate the boys from the men. It is so sophisticated that only seasoned veterans and those who belong to the elite strata of nirvana elevated photographers will be able to take great pictures let alone initially find where the shutter button is located!

Spoiler Alert Ahead

If you are about to buy this great camera, you might want to skip this section so you can enjoy the unboxing of your own 997. Here goes: the shutter is operated by the blink of your eyes! Every time you blink in the viewfinder, the shutter goes off! (Try blinking now, to imagine your new camera...)

Since blinking only averages about 5 to 7 times a second, you can set the menu for the shutter to fire 2, 3 even up to 5 times per blink! For those who are not used to this set up and would want the old style right forefinger press for the shutter release, an add on gadget is available from Hookerama for $499.

It Thinks For You!

Great pictures are a testimony of how magnificent this camera is.

Picture: My Two Boys

Now how did the camera even know what was on my mind that time?

There are two settings for this mode: ON, means "I will read your mind and focus on that" or OFF which means "You're on your own".

Conclusion

Buy it.
